I am a 60-year-old Black American who grew up in Philadelphia, PA, during the late 1960s and 1970s. I remember hearing this beautiful song when my parents would enjoy it. I wonder what made young people stop hoping, caring, and loving. My parents have passed away in 2000 and 2002, but the future of our youth saddens me. What happened to our country after the 1960s? Although young, I was there, and I remember.

Memories are made of music. I grew up when cassettes were replacing vinyl records. I borrowed a turntable from a friend to listen to my dad's old vinyl collection. The moment I started playing this song my mom came running from the kitchen, all smiling and asked, "Where did you get this song from?" I told her its from dad's old vinyl collection. That was the time I realized that music is an integral part of our memories. RIP mom.
